Thursday Thirteen: Favorite Decorating Styles

Okay, I am not a interior decorator nor do I play one on TV, but I did stay at a Comfort Inn last night... just kidding. I stayed in my own house. The house in which I love to decorate. And I can only wish I was an interior decorator! So, since I am pretending to be one, I will share with you my favorite decorating styles! And I'm not really sure if these are actual documented interior decorating "styles" but it sorta says what I like. And since I'm pretending and it's my blog, they'll be styles for today!

  1. Traditional

  2. American Country

  3. French Country

  4. English Country

  5. Cottage

  6. Vintage

  7. Shabby Chic

  8. Farmhouse

  9. Rustic

  10. Retro

  11. Arts & Crafts

  12. Colonial

  13. Victorian

I always see these and wonder where people put their mail. I know that's weird but our house has so much paper - reciepts - blah blah.

I need a paper holder!

Happy TT!

It wouldn't go in my house at all (my actual kitchen is quite modern - you can see a pic in my blog header), but I love that American Country kitchen.

My house is decorated in Early American Disaster with highlights of Classic Kid Raising. I couldn't help notice that none of these have crayon art on the walls.

My Thursday Thirteen #73 is up! 13 What I SHould Have Said and What I Said Stop by if you get a chance.

So, does everyone just KNOW what their style is? I like parts of all those styles that you posted! :) Whatever would I settle on?! My kitchen is Coca Cola, my living room is lodge/pine cones, my bathroom is palm trees/seashells/ocean, and my bedroom is black, dark red, and roses. They all look a very different style!

Oh this was great ... LOVED dane bramage's comment, as well you know - our house is just like that!!! I found more crayon marks in our master bath this morning - bright neon green too.

Does anyone know how to get crayon off the wall without taking off the paint?!

I really like the arts and crafts and colonial... but I still would have to go a little more contemporary/modern than any of these decorating styles. Maybe someday.

Hey all! Thanks for visiting!

Robin and Playful Professional--you both like modern which I love too for its clean lines. It's not my personal fav but I would love to decorate someone elses house in mod/contemporary style!

Kitchen Scrapbook--From the little I know about decorating, they say that it should be 80/20. Meaning that 80 % of your stuff should represent the main style and the 20% can be a mix. Maybe base that by room.

dane bramage & Ang--I think you two have the same mommy style of house decorating. And just so you know, crayon art is very she-she now! Check out IKEA for really cool frames to put kids art work up with.

I love French countryside, but I am a mix of whatever I can get. Luckily Leynie never drew on walls, but stickers on walls is another style too, right. I love Ikea's frames.

I definitely want to do some rustic when I can afford to decorate so that will be after the kids leave home, LOL.
Love the theme idea for this week.

Loved visiting your Thursday Thirteen, hope you will stop by The Cafe and visit mine.
